Jenny Bullington is a highly experienced advocate, educator, and trainer with over two decades of experience in victim services, trauma-informed care, and educational leadership. With dual master’s degrees in Criminal Justice – Forensic Psychology from Liberty University and Human Development from Pacific Oaks College, Jenny has dedicated her career to supporting survivors of intimate partner violence, child abuse, and sexual assault, especially within military and family systems.
As a Credentialed Advocate (CA) through the National Organization for Victim Assistance (NOVA), Jenny has worked extensively in the areas of domestic abuse, child protection, and sexual assault prevention, serving as a Victim Advocate with the U.S. Army and for Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA). She has also provided mentorship, self-defense training, and peer support to survivors of interpersonal trauma through her initiative Unbeatable Spirit, which includes a published book by the same name and a resilient survivor coaching program.
Jenny’s work goes beyond advocacy, combining her expertise with education. She has taught at the collegiate level and facilitated numerous workshops, seminars, and training programs on topics such as trauma-informed care, child advocacy, and legislative advocacy for survivors of violence. She has presented for multiple military programs and courses, sharing her knowledge on issues such as intimate partner violence and military family dynamics.
She is passionate about helping professionals, advocates, and ministries integrate trauma-informed practices into their work. Having personally navigated the impact of IPV, she is committed to equipping professionals, faith leaders, and advocates with the knowledge and tools needed to support survivors effectively. Her work through the Northwest Iowa Advocacy Academy is rooted in both lived experience and evidence-based best practices. Her research interests span areas including victimology, the impact of violence and abuse on families, attachment in parenting, and faith's role in post-traumatic growth, which inform her academy’s curriculum.
At Northwest Iowa Advocacy Academy, Jenny leads a mission-driven Ministry Advisory Board to inform and provide training and certification programs for professionals and community leaders, equipping them with the skills and knowledge needed to support trauma survivors and advocate for systemic change within their local communities and church families.
